Solar Rebate Program

The Solar Energy Systems Incentives Program, or the solar rebate program, was created in 2006 by the Florida Renewable Energy Technologies and Energy Efficiency Act. The four-year program is designed to encourage residents and businesses to invest in solar energy technologies by providing rebates for purchase and installation of solar energy systems in homes and businesses.

Any resident of Florida who purchases and installs a new solar energy system from July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2010, is eligible for a rebate on a portion of the purchase price of that solar energy system. The rebate application must be made within 120 days after the purchase of the solar energy equipment, and must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Two kilowatts or larger for a solar photovoltaic system; or
  • A solar energy system that provides at least 50 percent of a buildings hot water consumption for a solar thermal system; or
  • A solar thermal pool heater.

Important Notice:

Due to the large volume of rebate applications already received, the $5 million appropriation for Fiscal Year 2008-2009 has been allocated. We will continue to accept applications for the next fiscal year. If you apply for the rebate program and your application is approved, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. If the program receives funding for Fiscal Year 2009-2010, your application will be granted funding based on the order it was received and approved.

Types of Rebates Available:

Solar Photovoltaic System $20,000.00 $100,000.00
Solar Thermal System $500.00 $5,000.00
